Townes is a breathtaking example of a Standard Poodle. He is a Blue Merle Parti, a unique and highly sought-after combination. His coat features a sophisticated marbled “Merle” pattern of gray, black, and white, contrasted with large patches of crisp white.
Townes is also a glorious athlete. He is big-boned and sleek, possessing an impressive stature that is both powerful and graceful. Whether he’s running through the fields or flying through the air during play, his physical confirmation is a testament to his elite bloodline.
A Note for Breeders & Show Enthusiasts
It’s important to note that while the AKC and UKC recognized Townes’ pedigree, they currently classify the Merle pattern as a “disqualifying fault” for conformation show rings.
While Townes himself is not eligible for AKC or UKC sanctioned shows, it is highly likely that his offspring would be eligible for conformation showing.

He’s a happy, joyful dog who seems to be consciously aware of the joy he brings to those around him, whether he’s meeting neighbors or riding in the car with his head out the hatch, catching the wind.

“Townes came to Lizzie and me shortly after my wife Regina had passed. We were in sad condition hanging out here just the two of us, I think we each blamed the other for our dismal loss, our “Mama”. Lizzie actually developed a pain in her body that could not be explained. Sometimes she required gabapentin to be able to tolerate the touching of her body at all.
Townes came as a happy loving new family member and completely changed the feeling in our home. Townes has an infectious exuberance and joyful playfulness. The Pedigree
Townes represents the pinnacle of the breeding program at Red Dirt K9s. He is the son of Rumor, the legendary stud of breeder Jim Bates. While Rumor left a lasting legacy, many agree that Townes has surpassed even his renowned father in both beauty and character.
